New Features
This new release release includes a new 2-step launch feature. Use it at the track for a more consistent launch, more powerful launch in boost! All WOT Boxes shipped prior to 5/12/08 were shipped with
firmware version 1.5. They will need the following upgrade to enable
the 2-step feature. You may also need to change your wiring if you installed the WOT Box prior to 5/12/08 as well. See the section at the bottom of this page for more details.
Directions
Instructions for upgrading the firmware in your WOT Box
- Download the file to your laptop.
- Connect the serial cable from your laptop to the WOT Box. (or use a desktop if you can get one close enough to the car).
- If you do not have a serial port on your laptop, you may need to purchase a USB-to-Serial converter. You can find an inexpensive one here. If you have lost or damaged your serial cable, you can find a replacement here.
- Start the car. The car needs to be idling for the firmware upgrade to complete.
- Start the upgrade program. It will go through a few screens, including one that will require you to fill in the COM port number of the port you will be using. You may need to look this up in the device manager to find this out.
- Run the flash, it should take about 5-10 seconds to download and it will pop up a message when complete.
Firmware Version 2.3 - 7/9/08
Changes
- 2-Step minimum RPM is now 2000. Please use the following table to program the 2-step RPM after the update.

| Blinks | RPM | Blinks | RPM | Blinks | RPM | Blinks | RPM |
| 0 | Disabled | 6 | 3000 | 12 | 4200 | 18 | 5400 |
| 1 | 2000 | 7 | 3200 | 13 | 4400 | 19 | 5600 |
| 2 | 2200 | 8 | 3400 | 14 | 4600 | 20 | 5800 |
| 3 | 2400 | 9 | 3600 | 15 | 4800 | 21 | 6000 |
| 4 | 2600 | 10 | 3800 | 16 | 5000 | 22 | 6200 |
| 5 | 2800 | 11 | 4000 (default) | 17 | 5200 | 23 | 6400 |
- A 2-Step lockout was added that now requires the engine to be below 1500 RPM before engaging the 2-Step. This prevents the 2-Step from inadvertently activating on the highway during an aggressive shift.
- The maximum cut time for the auto WOT Shift feature was reduced from 600 ms to 350 ms due to concerns about check engine codes being tripped after a missed WOT Shift. This change should not affect normal WOT Shifting.
- 2-Step only WOT Boxes will now be able to complete the troubleshooting procedure steps 2-4. The LED will cut during a WOT Shift, but the ignition will not be cut. Therefore, troubleshooting step 5 will still not work.

Wiring Changes Required with Version 2.0 and higher
If you WOT Box was installed using the previous wiring diagram, then a few changes will be required along with this update for proper operation. A summary of the changes follows.
- The clutch wire is disconnected from the YELLOW WOT Box wire and reconnected to the GREEN WOT Box wire. If you do not have a GREEN wire on your WOT Box, email us and we will mail you a pin and a length of green wire.
- The YELLOW WOT Box wire is reconnected to the Cam Position Sensor. You may need to extend this wire to reach into the engine compartment.
- Lastly, the RED / BLACK paired wires no longer connect to the ignition coil. It has since been moved to the C101 connector to allow the WOT Box to cut fuel and spark.
For more details on these steps, please consult the current WOT Box 2.0 Installation Instructions. These will outline the steps needed for the entire install.
