Code Scrubber Installation Instructions

You will need Adobe Reader to view these instructions.

  1. Open the hood and locate the fuse and relay center. Remove the indicated fuse and set it aside until you complete the installation. Alternately, you can disconnect the negative battery terminal.

  2. Go inside the car and locate the OBD connector under the driver's side dash.

  3. Using your hands or a flat screw driver, unclip the connector from the car chassis.

  4. Peel back about 4-6" of the electrical tape that is wrapped around the wiring harness.

  5. Using a wire stripper, carefully peel back some of the insulation from one of the BLACK/TAN wires and the RED/ WHITE wire. Do not break the wire.

  6. Locate the code scrubber. Strip about 1/2" of the BLACK and RED wires on the code scrubber harness. Twist the black wire of the code scrubber harness around the BLACK/TAN wire of the OBD harness. Twist the RED wire of the code scrubber harness around the RED / WHITE wire of the OBD harness. Solder the connections and tape them with electrical tape.

  7. Locate the VIOLET / YELLOW wire of the OBD harness. Cut the wire about 2-3" from the OBD connector. Strip 1/2" off both ends of the wire. Strip 1/2" off the GREEN and BLUE wires of the code scrubber harness. Slide a piece of heat shrink tubing over the BLUE and GREEN wires. Twist the GREEN wire of the code scrubber with the side of the VIOLET / YELLOW wire that is going TOWARDS THE CAR BODY. Twist the BLUE wire of the code scrubber harness with the side of the VIOLET / YELLOW wire that is going TOWARDS THE OBD CONNECTOR. It is important that you get this right, if reversed, the code scrubber will not work.

  8. Solder the connections and cover them with the heat shrink. Use a heat gun to contract the heat shrink. Alternately, you can just tape them with electrical tape.

  9. Using electrical tape, re-tape the harness.

  10. Zip tie the code scrubber up under the dash and out of the way. The fuse box is a good location.

  11. Re-install the fuse we removed in step 1 or reconnect the battery terminal if you decided to do that. The LED on the code scrubber should start to blink.
  12. Insert the key and turn the car to on. You do not need to start it. The LED should go from blinking to solid on.
  13. If the LED is solid on, then the installation was a success. If the LED is still blinking or if it is blinking an error pattern, something is wrong. Send us an email at support@n2mb.com.
